cache: denotes a place where objects are hidden or refers to the group of hidden objects themselves.

midden: the traditional meaning of this word pertains to a recess or receptical for domestic refuse or the space where dust bins for household rubbish are kept. Tim Easton uses the term "spiritual midden" to describe caches of concealed objects.
